United We Stand
"Socialism" has become the anti-democrat rallying cry for uninformed conservatives who see it as tax dollars misspent on deadbeats who take advantage of social programs like medicaid, food stamps and unemployment.
Government administered programs like social security and medicare are social programs but they are not socialism and neither is medicaid, food stamps or unemployment insurance. They are parts of a social democracy which advocates economic and social interventions to promote social justice within the framework of a democracy in a capitalist oriented economy.
No one is promoting the Marxist form of socialism of which conservatives are accusing democrats, but rather, like social security and medicare, a system where all working Americans contribute a little so everyone is guaranteed adequate healthcare, income assistance in retirement and economic assistance during times when we can't adequately provide for ourselves like now during COVID. It takes all Americans, standing united toward a common goal to make this work. When misleading and untrue dogmas divide us we will never be as great as we can be. ridge
Mark 3:25 as "And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand". Similar verses of the New Testament include Matthew 12:25 ("And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand") and Luke 11:17 ("But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.").
